Core Approval Publishers, United States and Canada

The Blackwell list of US and Canadian Core Approval Publishers includes publishers that we will cover on our approval plan. We provide approval coverage, as either book or announcement form, of all new titles from these publishers except for paperback reprints, workbooks, programmed texts, mass market paperbacks and titles intended for a popular, leisure or juvenile readership. Blackwell will cover selected items such as high-priced titles or Special Promotion offers as announcement forms only.

Please note the meaning of the following designations on the list:

Selective coverage, indicated by the symbol ±, denotes that some of the publisher’s titles may be excluded from approval coverage. This designation is used for distributors who may offer titles from various small presses or for publishers who produce a large number of titles that are not suitable for academic and research collections.
The dagger † signifies that, due to the publisher’s terms, Blackwell will send only announcement forms for the publisher’s titles.
An asterisk * following a publisher’s name indicates that as of July 1, 2008, Blackwell will supply the publisher’s titles at list price.

Blackwell aims for flexibility in the face of changing conditions. We make updates to the Core Approval Publishers list as necessary to reflect changes in publisher’s distribution and terms of business. Revisions to the core list also reflect suggestions from approval customers, contacts with publishers, our research, and industry changes. If you have comments or suggestions for the next revision, please send them to Susan Judge at susan.judge@blackwell.com.
