When Titles are Gone, But Not Forgotten

Do you need a title that is out-of-print (OP), but find the process to be time-consuming and frustrating? At any given time Blackwell out-of-print specialists are researching thousands of out-of-print titles for libraries. In fact, over half of Blackwell customers use us to acquire OP titles.

Blackwell has an outstanding reputation as a buyer of OP material, and therefore receives prompt consideration from suppliers. If the title you ask for is available, we will get it to you in the condition you request and at a reasonable price.

Orders

Because timeliness is an important factor in out-of-print book purchases, Blackwell Out-of-Print Department in the United States will automatically acquire titles that are in very good or better used condition and are price at $75.00 or less. If a book costs more than $75 or is less than very good condition (e.g. highlighted, underlined, etc.) we will send a price quotation and wait for your confirmation before purchasing.

Automatic Search Service

Blackwell has created an automatic search service option for your convenience. If we discover you have ordered titles that are out-of-print or out-of-stock indefinitely, we will automatically transfer those orders to our OP Department for fulfillment. To take advantage of this service, contact your Regional Sales Manager or Customer Service Representative to complete a profile indicating to us what price ranges and conditions are acceptable to your institution.

Continuous Searching Process

Blackwell has established relationships with the most reputable online book sellers, allowing us to efficiently find the supplier who has the most suitable OP copy available for the best price. Should the title not be available through our online suppliers, our OP specialists will contact antiquarian bookstores to search for a copy. Our general policy is that we will continue to search for your order for one year. If books are unobtainable after a year we will cancel your order and send a summary report. If your library is still interested in finding the title please resubmit the order at any time and we will reinstitute the search.
