Blackwell Digital Services combines our century-plus experience in bookselling, our industry leading technology, and our growing partnerships with publishers and aggregators to bring you the most effective approaches to identifying, selecting, and ordering ebooks. Using the tools developed and refined in Collection Manager, Blackwell can help you meld your ebook order data and routines with those of your print books, providing you with seamless, efficient workflows to speed ebook access to your patrons. 

Taking advantage of our Endeca search engine, Collection Manager improves the discovery process by offering sophisticated, faceted search capabilities. Once identified, access to ebooks through Collection Manager allows for "book-in-hand" review before a purchasing decision is made. Ordering is accomplished through the same workflows as acquiring print books. Whether ordering ebooks from publishers or from one of our aggregator partners, invoicing from Blackwell consolidates and streamlines your payments processes. Relying on the expertise of our Technical Services Department, Blackwell can provide MARC records for your ebooks, complete with URLs placed in appropriate subfields.

Blackwell Aggregator Partners

Blackwell has gone further than any other vendor to bring aggregated ebook content to your library. Our alliances with three major aggregators: ebrary, EBL, and MyiLibrary, give you access to hundreds of thousands of ebooks. We also provide added assistance in helping you resolve licensing, access, and service issues. Blackwell Digital Services is your front end for getting the most from aggregator-provided content. Working in tandem, we can help you:

ebrary

ebrary is well-known in the library market as an innovative provider of ebooks. Over 130,000 ebrary titles are available for purchase for single-user access, with over 70,000 for multi-user access. ebrary offers a choice of access models, either directly online using the company’s QuickView technology, or using an easily downloadable reader. Using ebrary’s InfoTools, users can link directly from ebooks to outsider reference resources of the library’s choosing. Automatic citation tools support authoritative research. Blackwell enjoys a special relationship with ebrary which allows us to be a direct licensor for ebrary services, and to provide front-end technical support.

EBook Library (EBL)

EBL is a premier source for academic ebooks that is easy to use and offers innovative, flexible purchasing and lending options. The EBL collection currently consists of nearly 110,000 academic ebook titles in all disciplines, growing at a rate of 2,000 new titles per month. All of these titles are available for purchase in Blackwell’s Collection Manager. Besides supporting traditional ordering workflows, EBL was a pioneer in perfecting patron-selection approaches to ebook acquisition, an option still offered today.

MyiLibrary (MIL)

Blackwell is pleased to welcome MyiLibrary as its newest Digital Services Aggregator Partner. MyiLibrary, or MIL as it is also known, represents a significant expansion of ebook titles available to Blackwell customers. As of late summer 2009, MIL hosts nearly 200,000 ebooks, all of which are available for purchase for either single-user or multi-user access. All content is full-text searchable. Private workspace is available to individual MyiLibrary users where notes, links, and citations can be stored, the latter generated from automatic citation tools that are compatible with RefWork and EndNote. Access to MyiLibrary is available via the web and does not require the downloading of a separate reader.
