Let Blackwell Handle the Physical Work

By allowing Blackwell to handle physical processing, we can save you untold hours. Filling out a Physical Processing Profile is the first step in establishing your processing requirements with us. Your completed profile tells us whether you want full or partial processing, whether you want cataloging and barcodes linked to your books, or whether simply having us apply security devices and property stamps is enough to streamline the flow of books onto your shelves.

Our most frequently requested physical processing services are spine labels, security devices, barcodes, and property stamps. If you need something beyond the basics ask us about applying date due slips, book plates, author-title labels, reference labels, or other processing functions that help your library circulate and identify books. For paperbacks you can request Kapco lamination or traditional binding. For cloth books we can offer to cover dust jackets with Mylar.

Our physical processing services are seamlessly integrated into our cataloging services providing the opportunity for complete shelf-ready shipments. Spine labels can be created and barcode numbers can be linked to Blackwell MaRC with Books® records or to WorldCat Cataloging Partners records. Spine label profile options include choice of record source hierarchy, call number format, and classification preference (LC or Dewey).
