Blackwell Complete Cataloging Services Streamline the Process of Getting New Materials Into Circulation

MaRC with Books®

Blackwell has been providing cataloging for English-language titles for over 20 years to accompany books purchased from us. Cataloging service options include brief Provisional records, MaRC records, or MaRC Plus records, all tailored to your library’s Integrated Library System. In addition we can enrich your MaRC records with tables of contents, descriptive summaries, and author affiliations to improve access for your patrons.

OCLC’s WorldCat Cataloging Partners Service

We simplify receiving MaRC records from OCLC by sending them electronic lists of your invoiced titles. OCLC exports MaRC records to your library and Blackwell receives call numbers for your spine labels. For more information please download our WorldCat Cataloging Partners brochure.

CIP Upgrades

For monographs you receive before full MaRC records are available, Blackwell, in cooperation with OCLC staff, upgrades CIP level records within days of publication, so new records and materials go straight into your Integrated Library System. CIP upgrades streamline the record receipt process, preventing duplicate handling by library staff.

Record Delivery

All MaRC records are promptly made available via FTP.

Tables of Contents

Our Tables of Contents Enrichment Catalog Service gives your patrons better access to full information about your resources, helping you increase materials usage and access to composite works.

OCLC’s TechPro Service

Offering OCLC’s TechPro service in partnership with Blackwell means that customers can receive 100% of their books from Blackwell cataloged and processed. TechPro is a natural complement to Blackwell MaRC with Books service.

Physical Processing Gets Books Shelf-Ready Fast

Blackwell comprehensive physical processing services streamline the process of getting all your new materials shelf-ready quickly and cost-effectively with quality you can consistently count on.

Binding

From Custom Library Binding to Kapco and everything in between, select the option that meets your cost and quality needs.

Spine Label

We create labels that match your formatting preferences for call numbers using LC or Dewey classifications. Your source can be Blackwell database or OCLC’s WorldCat Cataloging Partners service.

Barcode

We can add barcodes to books and link them to MaRC records.

Property Stamp

We will match your stamp in your choice of ink color and place it as indicated per your instructions.

Security Device

Tattle tape, Checkpoint, or RFID-we will insert any security device you use.
